Danang Customs prevents the import of scraps remotely

Accordingly, Danang Customs Department requested the units to thoroughly implement the directives of the General Department of Vietnam Customs and the Department on customs management and supervision of imported scraps.
Currently, the imported scrap items are mainly iron, steel, plastic scrap in the area of Da Nang port.
Deputy Director of Danang Customs Department Nguyen Huong said that in order to manage these items, the unit instructed the Danang port Customs Branch to work with the shipping lines, shipping agents which regularly transport scrap at the port to understand about scrap import policy, laid out in the contents of the document 4202/TCHQ-PC guiding the management of imported scraps from abroad into Vietnam.
"If the enterprises do not comply with the regulations, the customs authorities will resolutely disallow the discharge of goods and force them to re-export. The shipping lines must take full responsible about the costs," the Deputy Director Nguyen Huong said.
Moreover, at present, there are 26 backlogged containers, in that 10 backlogged containers are imported scrap at Danang port area.
In the course of procedures, the Danang port Customs Branch detected two containers belonging to the declaration of BaoPhuoc Trading Production Company Limited (headquarter is in QuangNgai). Those containers infringed the regulation of importing goods by not meeting the requirements of regulations about types of plastic scrap allowed to be imported. Stinky and untreated waste (according to the inspection results of Vinacontrol), the weight of goods were in excess compared to the customs declaration.
Currently, the case is being investigated by the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department (General Department of Vietnam Customs).
Previously, in the working session with the Danang Customs Department at the end of June 2018, Deputy Minister Vu Thi Mai directed the unit to strictly control the import of scrap in accordance with the regulations and directives of the Ministry of Finance, General Department of Vietnam Customs.
Besides that, Deputy Minister Vu Thi Mai also directed the unit to promote the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and illegal transport of goods across border, focusing on the export and import of conditional goods such as petrol, scrap, electronics products...; to strengthen anti-smuggling and trade fraud through e-customs procedures; To closely monitor and supervise shipments of independent transportation, temporary import and re-export goods or temporarily exported and re-imported goods in transit.
