Da Nang: Means of transport and passengers on exit and entry reduce sharply

VCN - According to Da Nang Customs Department, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of vehicles and passengers on exit and entry in the first quarter of 2020 decreased sharply.

In the first quarter of 2020, Da Nang Customs Department completed procedures for 15 cruise ships on entry and 15 ships leaving the country, down about 40% compared to the same period in 2019. The number of tourists entering and leaving the country via seaway decreased more than 50%. Specifically, the number of tourists entering fell by 53.97% and those exiting decreased by 52.72%.

For airway, the unit completed procedures for 4,138 entry flights, down 1.9% and 4,127 departing flights, up 0.22%. The number of passengers entering country fell by 29.17%; the passengers exiting decreased by 22.46% over the same period in 2019.

Amid the complex development of Covid-19 epidemic affecting international trade and the number of passengers entering and leaving country via ports of Da Nang, Da Nang Customs Department recently issued a plan of implementing key tasks of Da Nang Customs Department in 2020. The first important goal is to accelerate customs reform and modernisation, innovate working methods, apply job management toward orientation of goals and planning; to attract investment, tourism and strive to meet and exceed the assigned target on State revenue collection for import and export goods.

Besides that, continuing to improve effectiveness of the fight against smuggling and trade fraud; preventing, detecting and promptly handling acts of violating customs legislation; standardising processes in customs operations; detecting and promptly overcoming loopholes and omissions in implementation of customs procedures and process; building a contingent of highly professional customs officials.

To concretise the goals, Da Nang Customs Department issued specific targets for each task. With the target of customs modernisation reform, the signing of a memorandum of understanding of partnerships with enterprises will increase by 40% compared to 2019; the number of procedures performed on the online public service system at level 3 and 4 will reach over 95%.

Regarding professional targets, State revenue collection will strive to reach VND4,100 billion; import-export turnover will increase by more than 5% compared to 2019. The number of enterprises carrying out import and export procedures will jump by more than 2% compared to 2019.

In risk management, collecting and processing the risk management information of 873 import-export enterprises and 35 customs brokers; the rate of red channel will be below 6% of the total number of import and export declarations; the number of screening containers (including: pre-clearance, clearance and post-clearance) will be more than 830 containers; the rate of detecting violations through analysing and assessing risks will be over 0.2%.

Da Nang Customs Department also set objectives in the fight against smuggling and trade fraud.
