This figure was announced by the Deputy Director of Import-Export Duty Department at the conference of reviewing the work in 2017 and implementing tasks in 2018 of the Import-Export Duty Department recently.
Accordingly, in the total amount of the VND 157.3 billion, the doubtful debt group has reduced by VND 48 billion compared to 2016; the debt groups waiting for erasing, exemption, reduction, and extension have decreased by VND 164.8 billion compared to 2016.
It can be seen that, in 2017, the recovery of accrued liability has been accelerated by the General Department of Vietnam Customs via various measures such as: develop detailed plans with specific solutions for each debt to recover and handle debts reaching and exceeding the assigned targets in Decision No. 1084 / QD-TCHQ dated 31/3/2017; to implement debt classification and management according to the guidance in the Dispatch No. 2150 / TCHQ-TXNK of 31/3/2017, assigning recovery quotas to local customs departments; to direct the units to strengthen the recovery of accrued liability to avoid arising new debts.
Specifically, in the result of recovery and processing tax debts in 2017, the Customs sector has processed VND 1.286 billion. In particular, the recovery and debt settlement for cases arising before January 1st 2017 were VND 626 billion; debt recovery and handling debt for cases arising in 2017 were VND 660 billion.
As a result, as of 31/12/2017, the total amount of tax debt in Customs sector only accounts for 1.79% of total state budget revenue in 2017 (VND 5,320.7 billion/VND 297,082 billion).
Some units have performed well in the recovery and handling of tax debts such as Customs Departments: Hai Phong City, Lang Son, Dong Nai, Kien Giang, Quang Ninh...
In addition, some units achieved great results in recovery and settlement of tax debts for the debts incurred before January 1st 2017, including the Customs Department: Nghe An (97.8%); Binh Phuoc (99%); Da Nang (100%); Tay Ninh (100%); Dak Lak (100%); Gia Lai - Kon Tum (100%).
By 2018, the Import-Export Duty Department will continue to focus on reviewing tax debt situation in the units, as well as strengthening debt management methods.
