In addition to the strong application of information technology (IT) in customs operations, the General Department of Customs has also applied IT in the internal direction and administration of the General Department. This has led to high efficiency.
The Customs sector has to receive and process about 13 million declarations every year.
"With such a workload, it is inevitable that problems arise and need to be solved," said the General Department of Customs.
In order to be able to cover a huge volume of incoming and outgoing documents of the Customs sector as well as conduct internal administration online, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has launched the E.Doc system which is linked to the Ministry of Finance and has 3-level automatic connection (General Department - Customs Department - Customs Branch).
The system allows management of incoming and outgoing documents, helping reduce the large number of paper documents and improve the timeliness in returning and processing documents of customs officers and civil servants nationwide.
The General Department of Customs has also applied IT in all aspects of customs operations such as customs management, supervision; import and export tax collection management; the management of taxable prices; risk management; post-clearance audit; investigation, anti-smuggling and handling of violations.
The above IT systems bring positive effects on the state management of customs.
