Customs officers to be arranged at Kheo-Tha Lau sub-border gate

VCN - After the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province announced that Kheo-Tha Lau sub-border gate is eligible for cross-border trading and exchange of goods, Thanh Hoa Customs Department has reported to the General Department of Customs on arranging customs officers to conduct customs inspection and supervision of imports and exports at Kheo - Tha Lau sub-border gate.

Regarding the report of Thanh Hoa Customs Department on the arrangement of customs officers at Kheo (Vietnam) - Tha Lau (Laos) sub-border gate, to meet the demand for Customs clearance, the General Department of Customs said the Kheo - Tha Lau sub-border gate is opened on Vietnam - Laos border according to Article 32 of the Agreement on Regulations on Border Management and the land border gate between the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed in 2016.

Thanh Hoa People's Committee announced the list of sub-border gates and border crossings outside the border gate economic zone in 2009 and Decision 1243 dated April 12, 2022 on the list of traders engaged in Vietnam - Laos cross-border trade activities.

As for the implementation of border trade activities at the Kheo - Tha Lau sub-border gate, border trade activities are carried out through international border gates and main border gates.

If cross-border goods trading and exchange activities are carried out through sub-border gates or border crossings, the People's Committees of provinces shall decide and announce the list of sub-border gates and border crossings that are eligible for cross-border trading and exchange of goods after discussing with relevant ministries and agencies on ensuring human resources for specialized inspection and control and technical infrastructure conditions for state management.

Therefore, Thanh Hoa Customs Department should advise and report to the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province to announce the list of border gates that are eligible to carry out cross-border trading and exchange of goods according to the above provisions.

After the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province announced eligible sub-border gates, Thanh Hoa Customs Department shall report to the General Department of Customs for consideration and arrangement of customs officers to carry out customs inspection and supervision for exported and imported goods at the Kheo - Tha Lau sub-border gate.
