Customs concentrate on preventing African swine fever (ASF)

Accordingly, the General Department of Vietnam Customs noted that the units need to concentrate on the border areas and border gates of the Northern provinces.

The General Department of Customs requested the units to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement Decision No. 1194/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister dated 12/9, focusing on implementing measures to prevent the contamination of African swine fever into Vietnam, and Document 16/BCDD389-VPTT dated 26/9, on the implementation of Decision 1194/CD-TTg.

The Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department and the provincial Customs Departments should take the initiative in monitoring, gathering and analyzing information, grasping the situation, identifying the main points and organizing the human forces; presiding over and coordinating with the competent authorities and forces, and local authorities in order to intensify the inspection and control of smuggling and illegal cross-border trafficking of pigs and pork products of unknown origin in the border areas,… at the area of roads, railways, sea routes, airway, especially in border areas of the northern provinces. Then strictly dealing with the violations of the law.

To receive and process promptly and effectively information related to smuggling and illegal cross-border transportation of pigs and pork products of unknown origin... by organizations and individuals supplying via telephone hotline. At the same time, the units needed to implement the reporting regime of the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

The General Department of Vietnam Customs also directed the Office of General Department to take initiative in coordinating with the press and communication agencies to intensify propaganda activities so that the people of all classes may know the harms and consequences of smuggling and illegal transport of pigs, pork products of unknown origin... cross border; Do not join, do not support, cover up, and actively coordinate with competent forces and authorities in the prevention of this activity.

The Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department should advise the leader of the General Department of Customs in the inspection and evaluation on the situation as well as the results of the implementation of Official Telegraph No.1194/CD-TTg and Document 16/BCD389-VPTT in the entire customs sector.
