On October 2nd, the Binh Dinh Customs Department, in collaboration with the Forest Products Association Binh Dinh, organized a dialogue session between customs authority and association members. The specialized conference attracted the participation of wood production and export enterprises, seaport businesses, ocean freight and logistics enterprises, and customs brokers agents.

Sharing with the wood industry business community in the locality, Director of Binh Dinh Customs Department, Le Van Nhuan, said that the dialogue session between the customs authority and enterprises is an opportunity for the customs authority to continue listening to and sharing the difficulties and obstacles that enterprises need to overcome, thereby supporting better and more effective solutions in the process of organizing and implementing customs policies, procedures, and regulations in the management area with the highest sense of support and responsibility.

This dialogue session is also an opportunity for enterprises to better understand the positive changes in the operations of the customs sector in general and Binh Dinh Customs Department in particular. Notably, there are outstanding results in administrative reform; the results of this work have been genuinely oriented towards people and businesses.

Accordingly, the customs authority has focused all resources on reforming customs procedures, fundamentally improving the spirit and attitude of customs officials in serving people and businesses; gradually applying information technology strongly in customs operations and internal operations; resolutely and proactively grasping and organizing the thorough implementation of the directive of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, the customs authority must truly shift its perspective from "governing administration" to "serving administration"; taking people and businesses as the center to serve.

"We highly appreciate the contributions and cooperation of the association and enterprises in developing the partnership between customs and businesses; we appreciate the compliance with customs law, tax law, and the efforts to overcome difficulties and fulfill the tax obligations of wood enterprises," emphasized Director Le Van Nhuan

At the conference, the Director of Binh Dinh Customs Department awarded certificates of merit to Forest Products Association Binh Dinh and typical export enterprises.

Le Minh Thien, Chairman of Forest Products Association Binh Dinh, expressed his appreciation for the Binh Dinh Customs Department's cooperation and support over the past period. He noted that over 100 association members conduct import and export procedures through Quy Nhon Port. With growing import and export activities, in the first nine months of 2024, Binh Dinh's wood industry saw a 25% increase in export turnover compared to the same period in 2023, reaching US$796.47 million, accounting for approximately 61% of the province's total export turnover.

Thien attributed this achievement to the significant support and assistance of local agencies, particularly the dedicated staff of the Binh Dinh Customs Department. He commended their commitment to accompanying wood businesses during challenging times and addressing difficulties encountered when implementing new regulations. The department has been prompt in resolving import and export procedures, ensuring timely clearance of goods upon vessel arrival at the port and the timely provision of empty containers for export.

"Due to the specific characteristics of Quy Nhon Port, ships often arrive at the port during weekends, requiring off-hours and short-term cargo handling. Therefore, the Binh Dinh Customs Department and the Quy Nhon Port Customs Branch have facilitated overtime work, which has been appreciated and recognized by the business community and the Association," Thien remarked.

At the conference, representatives of the Binh Dinh Customs Department guided businesses on new documents and policies, answering questions related to export procedures for wood chips, wood pellets, etc.

Furthermore, they informed businesses about import and export activities of wood products in the locality, primarily the export of wood chips, pellets, and wooden interior and exterior products, as well as the import of wood raw materials. In the first nine months of 2024, over 170 wood businesses have completed procedures with nearly 14,000 import and export declarations, contributing nearly VND135 billion in taxes to the state budget.

Thanks to the contributions of wood businesses in the locality through import and export activities, the state budget revenue of the Binh Dinh Customs Department in the first nine months of 2024 increased by 65.9% compared to the same period in 2023.
