ASEAN Directors General of Customs Meeting (ADGCM) will focus on an in-depth discussion of 12 contents

VCN - Information at the press conference held on the morning of May 21, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department (General Department of Vietnam Customs), said that the 33rd ASEAN Directors General of Customs Meeting (ADGCM) will take place over 2.5 days and discuss in depth 12 contents of agenda.

The 33rd ADGCM Meeting will take place in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang province from June 4 to 6, hosted by Vietnam Customs with the presence of 10 Customs delegations from ASEAN countries; representative of the ASEAN Secretariat; World Customs Organization (WCO); Australian Customs; Chinese customs; South Korean Customs and Japanese Customs. There is also the participation of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, the ASEAN - US Business Council and the ASEAN - EU Business Council.

With the expected time, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Viet Nga informed that the meeting will present 12 items on the agenda. In particular, delegates from the Customs agencies of member countries will focus on contents including discussion on unifying programs and solutions, continue to implement and complete the goals identified in the ASEAN Customs Development Strategy plan for the period 2021-2025.

In particular, focusing on a number of priority contents is the exchange of electronic documents through the ASEAN Single Window System, implementation of the ASEAN Customs Transit System (ACTS), roadmap for implementing the Mutual Recognition Agreement on Priority Enterprises (AEO) in ASEAN…

Besides that, the conference is also a forum for ASEAN Customs to strengthen dialogue and consultation with ASEAN dialogue partners to implement goals consistent with the economic development situation in the new period including green Customs, building a customs data ecosystem, modernizing customs, electronic data exchange, customs management for e-commerce, simplifying customs procedures for low-value shipments….

Also according to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, in the role of chairman for the 2024-2025 term, Vietnam Customs will make every effort to fulfill its responsibilities in actively coordinating and promoting countries to implement on schedule, roadmap that have been set with priority contents on single window, transit and mutual recognition of AEO enterprises; encourage countries to increase exchange, update information, share experiences and lessons in the actual implementation process, narrowing the gap between member Customs agencies.

In addition, the ideas proposed at the Vietnam Customs conference on the Green Customs initiative, enhancing connectivity and sharing information on customs control are expected to also be supported by Customs agencies of other countries and deployed in the next phase.
