A huge unclaimed quantity of goods at seaports and airports in HCM City

According to Mr. Pham Quoc Hung, Deputy Director of HCM City Customs Department, as of 15/5/2018, 6,900 unclaimed parcels and 389 containers of imported cargoes have been left at seaports and airports in Ho Chi Minh City, which are expired over the 90 days limit since the date of arrival at the border.
In that, 308 containers and 448 parcels were left in Cat Lai port. Tan Son Nhat International Airport has nearly 2,000 bales; at the warehouse of express delivery are nearly 4,400 bales; At VICT port, Ben Nghe port has 62 containers and 20 packages,...
According to the analysis of Customs units, many reasons could lead to businesses to not come to receive goods. It could be poor quality, delivery not in accordance with the contract, so the consignees don’t want to receive the goods; There are many shipments that are due high tax and fees for payment, which is higher than the actual value of goods, so the consignees don’t come to implement procedures for receiving them; Many cases are due to financial difficulties so they refuse to receive goods ...
According to Mr. Pham Quoc Hung, the unclaimed shipments will be handled in accordance with Circular 203/2014 / TT-BTC of the Ministry of Finance.
