7 months: The Customs collected VND 172,500 billion

In July 2018, the Customs collected VND 25,500 billion. Total import and export turnover of the country was estimated at US$ 39.3 billion, up 1.1% compared to the previous month of which, export turnover was estimated at US$ 19.5 billion, down 1.7% compared to the previous month and import turnover was estimated at US$ 19.8 billion, up 4% compared to the previous month
Total Vietnam’s import and export turnover in the first 7 months of 2018 was estimated at US$ 264.3 billion, increasing by 12.7% compared to the same period in 2017 (in which, export turnover was estimated at US$ 133.7 billion, up 15.3% and import turnover was estimated at US$ 130.6 billion, up 10.2% compared to the same period in 2017).
Vietnam’s trade balance in July 2018 had a deficit of US$ 300 million. Thereby, bringing the surplus until the end of July 2018 to US$ 3.1 billion.

The anti-smuggling and trade fraud has contributed to the State revenue. From 16th June to 15th July 2018, the General Department of Vietnam Customs chaired, collaborated, detected and seized 979 cases of Customs offences, with infringing goods valued at over VND 26.527 billion; collected VND 59.863 billion to the State budget. Of which, the Customs authority criminally prosecuted 1 case and transferred 9 cases to the other authorities for prosecution.
