Criminals find many ways to bring drugs from abroad to Vietnam via air.

Senior Colonel Doan Tat Nam, Deputy Head of Division 7 (The Drug-related crime investigation Police Department) said that recent arrests show new tactics of drug criminals through the airway such as drug criminals using social networks to make friends with women in difficult circumstances, then promise free travel abroad. During the travel abroad, the drug criminals will give suitcases and goods containing drugs to the women to bring to Vietnam.

Another trick is to take advantage of students, students studying abroad, and overseas Vietnamese workers, when these people return home, the subjects buy checked baggage to hide drugs. When catching passengers accidentally carrying drugs (due to selling checked baggage allowance), the competent authority does not identify the owner because the subjects are very sophisticated when removing traces immediately after sending the goods.

In addition, they take advantage of the kindness of those who are new airplane passengers without experience or first airplane passengers, the elderly, disabled, and people with small children to have them carry luggage containing drugs.

Through the above tricks, the Drug-related crime investigation Police Department recommends that airplane passengers must be alert and manage their luggage to avoid being abused to bring drugs.

In any case, it is advisable to refuse when strangers send or ask for watching their luggage.

In case there is a sale of checked baggage, it is necessary to exactly know the sender and goods.

When someone pretends to be a person with difficult circumstances to send goods, they need to contact the airport staff for assistance.
