According to the Management Board of Dong Dang-Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, the board coordinated with local government agencies to hold an online meeting with the government of Pingxiang, Guangxi, China on February 14 to discuss and remove difficulties in imports and exports.
At the meeting, Mayor of Pingxiang town, Guangxi, Vu Hieu Huy proposed the Vietnamese Government request businesses and traders to wrap goods in plastic film to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
This requirement must be performed in the near future because Vietnam's export goods are mainly food products and materials, Vu Hieu Huy said.
Head of the Management Board of Dong Dang-Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, Le Van Thang, suggested the government of Pingxiang implement the method of goods delivery and receipt at Tan Thanh - Po Chai Border Gate in which Vietnamese drivers will drive vehicles carrying goods to the area of Kha Phong, Po Chai, China, to deliver and receive goods (the vehicle’s cockpit will be sealed and controlled during transportation in Chinese territory)
Responding to this requirement, the government of Pingxiang said that it made a plan to implement the method and reported it to the leader of the Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi. In the near future, Zhuang Autonomous Region will hold a conference to consider this method. The Chinese side will inform the Vietnamese side soon if the method is approved.
According to preliminary statistics of the Management Board of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, as of February 15, 1,932 vehicles carrying export agricultural products were congested at the Lang Son border gate area, an increase of 63 vehicles compared to February 14. Meanwhile, lang Son province will suspend the receipt of vehicles carrying fresh fruits to export to China from February 16 to 25. Amid the current situation, it will take more than 10 days to process over 1,900 congested vehicles. |
