Vietnamese and Cambodian forces bust cross-border drug trafficking ring

The group of drug traffickers consists of six people, including two Cambodians and four Vietnamese citizens.

Upon conducting a search of each inpidual’s house, police were able to seize a total of 513 pills of drugs, 19 plastic bags containing synthetic drug tablets, two military-style guns, and 63 bullets, among other items.

The arrests marked the conclusion of joint investigations conducted over several days by both Long An’s border guard forces and Svay Rieng police.

The arrests come after border guards working in Long An province successfully caught 30-year-old Tran Tuan Khanh of Ho Chi Minh City in the process of transporting 20kg of drugs and three military-grade weapons through the Binh Hiep international border gate in Kien Tuong town on May 26.

Khanh later confirmed that he had purchased heroin from an unnamed person on the border between the two countries before smuggling the drug haul into Vietnam in order to sell it at a profit.
