Vietnam Customs signs agreement with 5 banks to implement online tax payment 24/7

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Director General of Vietnam Customs Nguyen Duong Thai said that in order to meet the requirements of administrative procedure reform, it is necessary for the customs sector to upgrade the electronic payment portal. To achieve the objective of facilitating to taxpayers at all times, minimizing the payment of cash; To ensure that tax payment information is promptly and accurately refund; Reduce the time for tax payment and complete cargo clearance immediately after finish tax payment, thus reducing the customs clearance time for import and export goods to the average level of ASEAN 4 as following the Government's direction.
The project of "online tax payment through banks in combination with collection and clearance 24/7" is a central project of the General Department of Vietnam Customs in 2017 to support enterprises to make direct payments at customs e-payment portal. Accordingly, taxpayers are allowed to create direct tax declaration forms on the Customs E-Payment Portal at any time and anywhere by connecting to the Internet and the result of successful tax payment transaction will be certified by the bank immediately after receiving the request for remittance of tax payment and immediate implement cargo clearance.
In comparison with the current collection procedures, especially the electronic payment method through the coordinative bank, tax payment and clearance 24/7 process are superiority, simplicity, convenience and accuracy rather than current method.
To implement this project, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has selected five banks to implement the pilot tax payment 24/7 as following: Vietcombank, Vietinbank; BIDV, MB and Techcombank. These banks have cooperated with the General Department of Vietnam Customs for a long time in implementing online tax payment.
The signing of a cooperation agreement with the five banks was done by the General Department of Vietnam Customs and the five banks to sign cooperation agreements in order to implement the project online tax payment conveniently.
The Deputy Director General also thanked the commercial banks for cooperation with the General Department of Vietnam Customs in order to provide many practical services as well as to expect commercial banks to propagate widely to their customers about online tax payment 24/7 scheme.
It is known that in order to implement successfully this program, the coordination of banks is an important factor that determines the success of the program. Therefore, the General Department of Vietnam Customs held many meetings with commercial banks to deploy this program. Most of the comments of commercial banks said that General Department of Vietnam Customs opens new tax payment channel " Online tax payment 24/7" on the Customs e-payment portal has shown the concern from Customs authorities in introducing new tools for facilitating to import-export activities. This also helps coordinative banks provide more services for their customers.
In addition, speaking at the signing ceremony, representatives of banks said that this is a step to accelerate the reform of Customs administrative procedures, which also helps banks get the more new product to support maximally for customers.
According to Mr. Le Ngoc Lam, Deputy CEO of BIDV, recognizing the importance and breakthrough of the online tax payment 24/7 project, BIDV has become one of the first five banks to implement pilot program with General Department of Vietnam Customs in order to push up administrative procedure reform and bring innovative payment product to business community with clear benefits.
