The exchange of the agreement was witnessed by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

The agreement aims to support and improve the effectiveness of implementation of the agreement on Customs cooperation and mutual administrative assistance signed by the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of the Netherlands on April 9, 2019, including contents on cooperation and mutual administrative assistance, information exchange on activities and emergency situations, focal points on investigation activities to prevent smuggling and trade fraud and tax evasion.

In order to sign the agreement and based on the strengths of the Netherlands Customs, the two sides have exchanged experiences on customs management at seaports, risk management and target identification, and customs control at airports.

In addition, the two sides have closely coordinated in providing and verifying information to control and combat smuggling. In the near future, within the framework of the cooperation, the two sides will strengthen collaboration in information sharing, e-commerce, green customs, digital transformation, customs inspection and supervision of goods requiring intellectual property protection, customs value, and origin.

Accordingly, the key cooperation activities include methods that two sides will exchange and agree to implement automatic information transmission, information attached with requests, determination of competent authorities implementing the request…

The two sides also exchange experiences in fields suitable to their strengths and issues of mutual interest such as risk management, target identification, anti-drug smuggling, and application of IT in customs control.
