Two smuggling cases of Iphone 15 Pro Max seized at Tan Son Nhat Airport

VCN – On September 22-23, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch and the Southern Anti-Smuggling Enforcement Unit (Unit 3) - the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department under the General Department of Vietnam Customs coordinated other competent agencies to seize two shipments, including 36 iPhones 15 Pro Max smuggled across Tan Son Nhat airport.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch has implemented solutions to strengthen the inspection and supervision of smuggled iPhones on air routes.

On September 22, during processing customs procedures for passengers on flight number VJ814 from Singapore to Vietnam, the law enforcement forces detected goods exceeding the entry exemption limit without customs declaration in the luggage of Tran Nhat Son, 31, residing in Go Vap District, HCM City).

The working team of the Southern Anti-Smuggling Enforcement Unit and the Entry Luggage Customs Procedures Team coordinated with HCM City Police to conduct a physical inspection for the luggage and detected 22 iPhones 15 Pro Max new 100%.

The Customs transferred the suspect and infringing goods to HCM City Police for further investigation.

On September 23, passenger Nguyen Manh Hung, 32, residing in District 8, HCM City on flight No. BL6800 from Thailand from Vietnam, the working team detected suspicious signs in Hung’s luggage and implemented a physical inspection.

The working team discovered 14 iPhones 15 Pro Max new 100%. Hung did not declare and pay tax to the Customs when entered Vietnam.

Currently, the Police continue to investigate the case.
