The collection of taxes at 11 major Customs Departments inspected

VCN- In order to accomplish the assigned task of revenue of 270 trillion vnd (and the revenue target of 275 trillion vnd) for 2016, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has decided to organize the inspection teams to supervise and monitor the collection of taxes and observance of the Customs legislation at11 major Customs Departments in Vietnam.

The Departments under the supervision and inspection of the General Department of Vietnam Customs include: the HCMC Customs Department, the Hanoi Customs Department, the Hai Phong Customs Department, the Quang Ninh Customs Department, the Lang Son Customs Department, the Lao Cai Customs Department, the Dong Nai Customs Department, the Binh Duong Customs Department, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Customs Department, the Tay Ninh Customs Department, and the Long An Customs Department.

The contents of inspection have focused on responsibilities and duties of the leadership of Customs departments, leaders of professional teams (under Customs Branches) and Customs officers in performing Customs procedures for exported and imported goods; inspection and supervision of the implementation of Customs post-clearance audits and anti-smuggling operations.

In addition to inspecting the Departments mentioned above, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has also set up inspection teams to supervise the operations against smuggling at the Quang Tri Customs Department.

At a press conference on the theme of the State budget collection held by the General Department of Vietnam Customs on 24th November 2016, the Deputy Director of Import-Export Duty Department (under the General Department of Vietnam Customs), Mr. Le Manh Hung said, due to adverse effects, the State budget revenue of Customs had reached over the same period 2015. The estimated revenue in the first 11 months of 2016 reached 239,454 billion vnd, equivalent to 88.7% of the estimate, an increase of 2.9% compared to the same period in 2015 (232,683 billion vnd).

Mr. Le Manh Hung stressed that these positive results derived from the united measures of Customs from the beginning of 2016, which focused on facilitating trade and combatting the State budget losses, enhancing post-clearance audits, anti-smuggling and anti-commercial fraud.

According to the first estimate indicators, the 11 major Customs Departments have to collect the total amount of revenue of 235,970 billion vnd, accounting for nearly 87.4% of the estimate of the Customs revenue. Of which, there are 3 leading Customs Departments including the HCM City Customs Department (102,500 billion vnd), the Hai Phong Customs Department (48,590 billion vnd) and the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Customs Department (18,800 billion vnd).
