Leading in logistics services

Information at the workshop "Binh Duong - logistics and e-commerce ecosystem towards global supply chains," held within the framework of the Horasis China Economic Cooperation Forum 2024 (from April 14-16), Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Danh affirmed that Binh Duong had effectively utilized its advantages in geographical location, invested in building synchronized transportation infrastructure, and continuously improved it. Coupled with the rapid development of the industrial and commercial service sectors, these factors have generated strong momentum propelling Binh Duong to become one of the leading provinces in the country in terms of logistics services development.

Currently, the logistics center system and transportation facilities are continuously upgraded, expanded, and newly invested in terms of scale and service quality to meet the storage and transshipment needs for domestic and export goods of businesses within the province and the region.

With the goal and direction of developing the logistics services sector, Nguyen Van Danh affirmed that Binh Duong was committed to always facilitating domestic and international logistics service businesses to explore, research, and invest in business within the province.

Therefore, Binh Duong greatly needs the attention and support of relevant ministries and sectors, especially the valuable contributions of experts, industry associations, and businesses directly involved in the logistics sector within and outside the province, with their valuable experiences, innovative ideas, and superior solutions, suitable for resolving issues and applying them efficiently in practice.

This will help Binh Duong develop specific plans and solutions to efficiently develop the logistics sector, enhance value and competitive capacity, and promptly establish a modern cross-border logistics service supply chain with high-quality services.

Sharing at the workshop, Huynh Dinh Thai Linh, Director of the World Trade Center Binh Duong (WTC Binh Duong) - a member of the Binh Duong Logistics Association, stated that Binh Duong had formed a regional-level logistics service chain with an infrastructure system consisting of 15 large-scale logistics centers, including three ICDs and one international railway station serving import and export goods; forming 10 river ports, 21 warehouses, 19 customs warehouses, and two active CFS warehouses that serve production activities in industrial parks and clusters and fulfill the function of distributing goods to provinces and cities in the region and for export.

In this regard, Binh Duong focuses on diversifying logistics service products, improving the quality of existing services, researching and developing high-quality services based on digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and connecting everything to create a seamless logistics chain.

Develop digital human resources

However, according to experts, to adapt to the development and innovation of the logistics industry in the future, the development of human resources becomes an important factor on the path to building and expanding the logistics industry in Vietnam in general and Binh Duong in particular.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa, President of the Vietnam Logistics Research Institute, affirmed that Binh Duong fully had favorable conditions for development, becoming a service center and support for industry and science-technology of the Southeast region and the Southern region. In which, the logistics industry has the inherent potential to become one of the important economic sectors, the spearhead of the province, and a driving force for Binh Duong's socio-economic development in the future.

To achieve this goal, in the coming time, Binh Duong needs to prioritize the development of logistics human resources focusing on digital skills, supply chain management to meet the sustainable development needs of logistics investors coming to Binh Duong.

This is also a solution to promote innovation and creativity among logistics service enterprises, providing 3PL (third-party logistics), 4PL (fourth-party logistics) service chains, aiming for 5PL levels - Electronic Logistics based on the development of e-commerce and modern supply chain management, efficient, and professional.

However, representatives of some businesses stated that the biggest bottleneck hindering the development of the logistics industry in general, and logistics services in particular, was human resources and professional, high-quality labor. Currently, there are two universities in Binh Duong that have implemented logistics and supply chain management training. However, overall skill levels and professionalism in the logistics industry are still at a relatively average level, unable to meet the increasing demands of logistics service businesses in the province in the long term.

In response to the urgent requirement, the Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee leadership stated that the province was actively supporting businesses in improving the quality of human resources, applying technology, connecting with businesses in the supply chain, and promoting logistics service trade.

Binh Duong also supports and ensures smooth transportation of goods and logistics activities, reducing costs for businesses, helping the logistics service industry become the main pillar of trade and services growth and soon achieve the goal of restructuring the economy towards high-quality services.
