Notice for businesses exporting watermelons to China
To ensure that goods are exported smoothly, Lang Son Customs Department recommends that businesses meet the requirements when completing procedures to export Vietnamese fresh watermelon to the Chinese market.

Accordingly, grounds for inspection and quarantine; name of goods allowed to be imported; authorized origin; approved orchards and packing plants; list of quarantine pests of concern in China; pre-export management; entry inspection, quarantine and unqualified handling.
In particular, for grounds related to inspection and quarantine, businesses need to pay attention to the Laws of the People's Republic of China: Law on Biosafety, Law on Animal and Plant Quarantine and other regulations. intend to execute; Food Safety Law and implementing regulations; Measures to monitor and manage inspection and quarantine of imported fruits; “Protocol on plant quarantine requirements for fresh watermelon exported from Vietnam to China” between the General Department of Customs of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Businesses need to pay attention to the name of goods allowed to import fresh watermelon, the scientific name is Citrullus lanatus, the English name is Watermelon; for permitted origins are watermelon production areas in Vietnam.
In addition, businesses should note that orchards and packaging facilities exporting watermelons to China must register with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (referred to as Vietnam) and be approved and registered by the General Department of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as China).
Registration information includes name, address and registration number. Before starting trade, Vietnam needs to provide China with a registration list, which will be published on the website of the General Administration of Customs of China and updated regularly after consideration and approval.
The list of quarantine pests of concern in China includes Acidovorax avenae subspecies Citrulli; Guava fruit fly Bactrocera Correcta; Peach fruit fly Bactrocera zonata; Pepper flies Bactrocera latifrons and Phenacoccus Solenopsis.
Regarding pre-export management, Lang Son Customs Department recommends that businesses pay attention to orchard management; packaging factory; packaging requirements; inspection and quarantine before export; and requirements for plant quarantine certificates.
Regarding entry inspection, quarantine and handling of unqualified people, businesses should note that when exported watermelons arrive at the Chinese port of entry, China Customs will carry out inspection and quarantine following specific requirements.
