Tay Ninh Customs seized 1,360 blister packs of smuggled medicine

Earlier, at 10:30 AM, on 15th May 2017, at Integrated Control Station of Moc Bai International Border gate, through scanning luggage of entry passengers, Customs officers detected suspected sign so they conduct a physical inspection.
As a result, they discovered inside luggage of Tran Minh Thuc that was born in 1976, lived in Dong Hoa district, Phu Yen province, there were 640 blister packs of western medicine without valid invoices as well as Customs declaration. Similarly, in the luggage of Nguyen Xuan Cuong that was born in 1976, lived in Ke Sach district, Soc Trang province, contained 720 blister packs of western medicine without valid invoices and customs declaration.
According to primary testimony, all of those western medicines were bought and transported from Cambodia to Vietnam to earn more profits. Currently, Moc Bai Customs Branch has sent a sample to Criminal technique Division of Tay Ninh Police for verification.
Mr. Huynh Van Duc, Director of Tay Ninh Customs Department, Permanent Deputy Director of Tay Ninh Steering Committee 389 said that, the implementation of Official Telegraph No. 90 / CD-389 dated 13/7/2015 of National Steering Committee 389 about launching the peak series of fighting against smuggling, producing and trading fake goods as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and supplementary foods, Tay Ninh Customs has strengthened the inspection and control of imported goods at border gates.
At the same time, coordinating with other forces to inspect and control the two side gates of the border gate, the inside and outside trails of customs operation areas, organising the struggle to detect and strictly handle trafficking or transporting illegal goods across borders, especially focusing on pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and supplementary foods.
In the peak series from 15/7/2015 to 15/4/2017, the competent forces of Tay Ninh province discovered and seized 269 cases of smuggling, illegal cross-border goods transportation and counterfeit goods, poor quality and unclear origin goods that are pharmaceutical, cosmetic products or supplementary foods. The total value of the infringed goods was more than 3.6 billion vnd, the administrative fine of over 1.4 billion vnd, confiscated evidence that is worth over 2.2 billion vnd; handling criminal violation for 3 cases with 8 subjects.
