More than 400 used mobile phones were seized by Customs. |
According to Tan Son Nhat Airport Customs Branch, on May 20, the Branch coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department and the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department under the General Department of Vietnam Customs to seize a huge mobile phone shipment from South Korea to Vietnam.
This shipment was carried by a male Korean passenger O.S.H, 35 years old who travelled on flight VN405 from Seoul to Vietnam via Tan Son Nhat airport and did not declare his luggage.

Customs inspected this passenger and detected 418 used iphone, Samsung and LG mobile phones. The value of the infringing goods was estimated at 3 billion VND.
As per the Government’s Decree 69/2018/ND-CP and Circular11/2018/TT-BTTT of the Ministry of Information and Communications, used mobile phones (including refurbished phones) are banned from import into Vietnam.
Depending on the nature of the case, the offender will have the infringing goodsconfiscated, besubject to administrative sanctions or may be subject to criminal prosecution.
The Customs authority is currently investigating the case.
