Strengthening the fight against smuggling and commercial fraud in Lunar New Year holiday

The National Steering Committee against smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeiting (called as the National Steering Committee 389) has issued a planning to combat smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeiting before, during and after Lunar New Year 2017.

Accordingly, State agencies and functional authorities at all levels shall strengthen inspections and control to effectively detect and prevent smuggling activities, commercial fraud and counterfeiting.

In particular, the Police Force, Market Management Force and Specialized Inspectors will carry out functional tasks such as manage and coordinate with relevant units to tightly control the domestic market, strengthen inspections to detect manufacturing of counterfeit goods, promote inspections and specialized inspections on business conditions, compliance of tax, invoices and receipts, origin of goods, labeling and product quality standards.

The Customs Force and Border Guard Force will also coordinate to control, detect and handle acts of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border, commercial fraud at auxiliary gates, trails, crossings, canals and rivers; and strictly control goods and luggage of passengers entering and exiting border gates.

Specifically, the Coast Guard Force should coordinate with Customs Force, Border Guard Force and local authorities to increase patrols, control and fight against smuggling and commercial fraud on the sea, especially Northeastern and Southwestern areas.

The purpose of the Plan is to strengthen the inspection, surveillance and control of the market in order to promptly detect, prevent and handle smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border, as well as manufacturing of counterfeit goods. The functional units will also focus on the control of prohibited items affecting social security such as weapons, drugs, explosives, fireworks, reactionary documents, wildlife, garments, food, wine, beer, cigarettes and candies, etc.
