Stopping 14 trucks illegally carry 50 tons of sugar

According to Quang Tri Police, on the morning of October 29, 2023, at Km40 - National Highway 9 (in the area of Group II, Krong Klang town, Dakrong district, Quang Tri province), Dakrong District Police and Economic Police Division under Quang Tri Police discovered 15 trucks with suspicious signs, so they stopped these trucks for inspection. Some drivers increased speed when seeing the authorities.

Through a quick inspection, the authorities discovered a truck carrying five wooden boxes of unknown type; and 14 trucks carrying more than 50 tons of sugar.

The drivers were unable to present invoices, or documents proving the origin of the above goods. Some drivers did not support the inspection.

From September, 2023, Dakrong handled 32 cases and arrested 32 suspects who deal with smuggled goods, seized 115 tons of sugar and 53 boxes of foreign-made alcohol with a value of about VND2 billion.
