Over five tons of White Sugar seized by Dong Thap Customs

According to Dong Thap Customs Department, the Chairman Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee has just issued a decision to fine VND70 million for Mrs Nguyen Thi Thuy An, 44, residing in An Lac ward, Hong Ngu City, involved in storing 5.2 tons of White Sugar seized by Dong Thap Customs Department in early 2023. In addition, the local government confiscated 5.2 tons of refined sugar.

Earlier, On January 15, the working team, including Customs Enforcement Team (Dong Thap Customs Department), Hong Ngu District Police, Phu Thuan B Commune Police and Market Surveillance Team No.3 detected 104 bags of White Sugar in front of house No.680, group 24, Hong Ngu district, made in Thailand and Cambodia, without documents proving legal origin.

At the scene, Mrs Nguyen Thi Thuy An admitted that she owned this illegal White Sugar.

Mrs An said that she bought this sugar from many residents from the border area of Thuong Lac commune, Hong Ngu district, and then she transported and gathered these products to the house of Mr Pham Van Hung (her brother-in-law) to resell for a profit, but was discovered and arrested by the authorities.
