Saving 2,500 billion VND by cutting down specialized inspections of food safety

VCN –In the past, food shipments were checked 100% at the border. Now at least 90% of the food shipment will not have specialized inspection before clearance.

The Ministry of Health said that, this has been a great effort when proposing to the Government to issue Decree 15/2018/NĐ-CP stipulating specifically on the execution of some clauses in Food Safety Law.

According to the evaluation of the Ministry of Health, with the issuance of Decree 15/2018/NĐ-CP, replacing Decree 38/2012/NĐ-CP, it has completely cut down procedures of specialized inspection for 5 groups including: supplementary foods, nutritional foods, foods used in special diets, and nutritional products for children under 36 months old.

At least 90% of the food shipments would not be subject to specialized inspection before clearance, it will transfer directly from pre-inspection to post inspection.

According to estimates by the Ministry of Health, the implementation of Decree 15/2018 / ND-CP will save nearly 2.9 million working days as well as saving 2,500 billion VND.
