Quang Nam Customs seize a case of illegal transport wild animal
At 7:45 PM, on 30/6, during the patrol in customs operation area, Nam Giang Customs force detected a man who was driving a motorcycle with license plate: 81B1-84668 to transfer goods from Laos to Vietnam.
Through the inspection, the Customs force discovered a number of wild animals including: 1 live pangolin, total weight was 3.2kg and it was hidden in a blue backpack; a white pack containing a frozen weasel that weighing of 3kg; 2 frozen porcupines weighing about 5kg and 26kg of frozen pork.
Furthermore, the person declared that his name is Tran Huu Phong (came from Hoa Thuy, Le Thuy, Quang Binh). However, he did not present any identification documents as well as legal documents to prove legal origin of the above goods.
Nam Giang Customs Branch has made records of administrative violations, temporarily seized evidence and means of transport. Then coordinating with Nam Giang Border Station to exchange information for verification and clarifying identify of the subject.
Moreover, on 03/7, the Customs Branch handed over all records, evidence, and vehicle to Special Use Forest Ranger Song Thanh Station for handling in accordance with its competence and law provisions.
Previously, in January and February of 2017, Nam Giang Customs Branch also detected, seized and handled 2 cases of illegal transport 4 pangolins with a total weight of 8.3 kg across the border.
