On the afternoon of January 2, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired an online conference summarising the 2019 performance and implementing the 2020 tasks of the 138 / CP Steering Committee and 389 National Steering Committee.

Addressing the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the steering committees to continue to follow the tasks assigned by the Government and the Prime Minister.

In particular, they should be focusing on amending and completing policies and institutions, coordinating authorities, inspecting and urging agencies in implementing assigned tasks and directing the handling of hot and typical cases for deterrence.

In addition, it is necessary to strengthen public service inspection, resolutely prevent corruption and petty corruption in administrative agencies, and avoid people feeling unsatisfied and losing trust in administrative agencies and civil servants

Police, Customs, Tax, Market Management, Border Guards and Coast Guard forces are direct functional agencies that must stop corruption.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also said management agencies need to not tolerate crimes and injustice on wrongly innocent people, to promptly prosecute large cases; to handle denunciations of people in accordance with regulations, to suspend the work of officers showing signs of protection, covering and turning a blind eye to law violations, and seriously handle acts no matter who it is

The Ministry of Defence shall direct the Border Guard to strengthen border patrol, prevent illegal exit, especially in the activities of trafficking in persons, illegal transportation of drugs, firecrackers and other banned goods.

Police, General Department of Customs, General Department of Market Surveillance, Border Guard, Coast Guard and local police play an important role in fighting smuggling, the Prime Minister emphasised, and if these five forces are clean, responsible, cunning and brave, along with the good direction of the Party committees and local authorities, the crime situation and especially the prevention and combat of smuggling and trade fraud will achieve good results, meeting people's expectations.
