Nearly 5,000 tubes of pharmaceutical products seized for suspected quality violations

VCN- On May 22, Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch said that the branch has coordinated with Team 1 under the Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department to inspect a shipment of 5,000 tubes suspectedof beingpharmaceutical products transported from India via Qatar to Vietnam.

Previously, the shipment was transported to Noi Bai International Airport on flightQR8952 on March 15, 2020 and keptat the warehouse of Noi Bai Cargo Terminal Services JSC., (NCTS). The consignee is an individual.

Detecting suspicious signs of the shipment, the Customs branch inspected it. During the inspection, the Customs detected that infringing goods are melasma cream tubes (Tretinoin and Mometasone Furoate Cream Melacare), 100% new, made by AJANTA PHARMA LIMITED in India with a total of4,998 tubes.

Melasma cream tubes are suspected pharmaceutical products according to the Government's Decree No.54/2017/ND-CP regulating a number articles and measures to implement the Pharmacy Law. Accordingly, these imported Melasma cream tubes must be announced on product quality in Vietnam’sterritory. The import of this suspected shipment shows signs of law violation.

The suspect abused goods transportation of individual to transport goods subject to conditional import goods into Vietnam to avoid the control of customs.

All the infringing goods have been sealed and handed over to Noi Bai Cargo Terminal Services JSC., (NCTS) for storage under control by the Customs Enforcement Team under the Noi Bai International Customs Branch to identify and handle the shipment in accordance with the law.
