Smuggled woods were arrested by the competent forces. |
Specifically, Dalbergia oliver and Pterocarpus macrocarpus are listed in Appendix II in " the list of Convention on International trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora” issued together with Circular No. 04/2017 / TT-BNNPTNT dated February 24th, 2017 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
According to the Customs Newspaper, during the import procedures for the scrap shipment on September 9th, 2018, La Lay border gate Customs Branch coordinated with the Border Guard Station at La Lay international border gate to take professional measures to fight and identify violations.
More than 6,000 bars and lumps of woods are hidden inside the paper scrap. |
Through inspection, the competent forces detected that inside the paper scrap were thousands of bars of woods (suspected to be Dalbergia oliver and Pterocarpus macrocarpus).

As an initial result, the competent forces discovered more than 6,000 bars, lumps of woods. Currently, the case dossier has been handed over to Quang Tri Customs Department for further handling according to regulations.
