APEC Vietnam 2017 has the theme “Creating new driving force for a common future”. The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has been assigned to organize events and activities related to businesses in APEC Vietnam 2017 by the Government.

Speaking at a press conference on 12th January 2017, Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu, the Deputy Director of the Standing Committee and the Secretariat of APEC Vietnam 2017 said that APEC is the only regional forum to gather the leading economies in the world, accounting for 59% of global GDP, 48% of global trade and 39% of the world population. Therefore, APEC 2017 is an important milestone of Vietnam.

APEC 2017 has a significant impact on external relations of Vietnam from date to 2025, with 13 of 25 strategic and comprehensive partners, 13 of 15 Free Trade Agreements between Vietnam and the 18 APEC member countries. Therefore, according to Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu, this is a very important opportunity for enterprises in the next 10 years.

At the press conference, Mr. Vu Tien Loc said that APEC would be a golden opportunity for businesses, and APEC would replace the contents of FTAs which Vietnam had not signed. APEC Vietnam 2017 will provide many opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to raise their voice in regional cooperation, promoting the image and Vietnamese products with APEC enterprises, approaching APEC's major investors and expanding cooperation in trade and investment. This is an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce to international enterprises about the business environment as well as the potentiality in trade and investment cooperation in Vietnam.

Therefore, activities related to businesses in APEC will be held in many fields with various issues. A representative of VCCI pledged to organize a meeting with the most creative spirit to bring efficiency to the business community.

Specifically, the APEC start-up business forum will be held on the sidelines of the APEC Small and Medium Enterprises Ministerial Meeting in September 2017 in HCM City. A conference of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC 4) will be held from 4th November 2017 to 7th November 2017 in Da Nang City. The forum on trade promotion and investment in Vietnam with the theme "Vietnam - An open business environment for new generations of FTAs" will be held by VCCI in Da Nang City on 8th November 2017. Besides, the Dialogue between leaders of APEC member countries with ABAC members will also be organized within the framework of the submit week in Da Nang City.
