According to Long An Steering Committee 389, in the first eight months of the year, the competent forces of Long An province have detected and arrested nearly 873 smuggled cases of trade and trafficking of smuggled goods, and confiscated nearly 1.4 million smuggled packs of foreign cigarettes. In particular, in August, the competent forces detected and arrested 105 cases of trade and trafficking of smuggled goods and confiscated over 200,000 packs of cigarettes of all kinds.

Smuggling activity in the Long An border line in August 2018 continued to be controlled and tightened. The competent forces in the province continue to patrol and supervise some routes and areas which are smuggling hot spots. Smuggled goods across borders are mainly cigarettes transported by 4-seater cars and 7-seater cars.

However, according to Long An Steering Committee 389, recently with the cigarette smuggling activity there has appeared new methods and tricks that are using the form of consignment for smuggling.
