Launching a peak attack and suppressing drug-related crimes nationwide

VCN - The Government Office has issued document No. 3631/VPCP-KGVX on implementing the Drug Prevention Action Month in 2024 (from June 1 to June 30, 2024) with the theme "Together for Drug-Free Communities".

Accordingly, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention has directed the Ministry of Public Security to launch a peak attack and crackdown on drug-related crimes across the country. In particular, focusing on fighting and eradicating complex drug hotspots in communes, wards and towns; investigating and destroying inter-provincial and transnational organizations and drug trafficking and transportation lines; dismantling the entire chain, from the ringleader to the retailers.

Furthermore, improving the effectiveness of coordination between specialized drug prevention and combat forces; exchanging information and coordinating deploying projects to ensure synchronization and continuity.

The Ministry of Public Security directed local police to review, statistics, analyze and evaluate the situation of drug addicts and illegal users, especially those with signs of psychosis and "drug addiction"; From that proposed a strict management plan, especially in key and complex areas which gather a large concentration of workers, industrial and export processing zones, and large urban construction project areas…; continue to effectively implement the work of identifying addiction status, documenting and applying appropriate detoxification measures.

The Ministry of Public Security chairs and coordinates with relevant ministries and localities to organize communication activities in response to Action Month on Drug Prevention and Control, the International Day of Drug Prevention and Vietnam’s National Anti-drug Day.

At the same time, developing criteria and organizing review and evaluation of drug-free commune, district and provincial models in localities to disseminate, replicate, and ensure effectiveness, synchronization and unity...

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang requested the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Finance to direct functional forces to coordinate closely and promptly with the police to fight and destroy drug-related crime networks and organizations on land and sea borders, border gates, aviation, international post and express delivery services.

Promoting communication to raise legal awareness on drug prevention for border residents, border gate areas and fishermen in key sea areas.
