Offender Vangchueyang Briachear was arrested with 294 kgs of drug

Successfully solve many specialized cases

After a long period of observation at a secret track, at 1:15 am on February 17, 2019, at Dock 2, km 79, national road 8A, in Son Kim 1 commune, Huong Son district (Ha Tinh), the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes (C04) and Ministry of Public Security, presided over and coordinated with Ha Tinh Provincial Police, Border Guards and Customs to detect and caught an offender Vangchueyang Briachear, born in 1994, residing in Vang Ban village, Xay Cham Phon district, Blykhhamxay province, Laos, in a Hyundai 9-seat passenger car with Laos control plate UN-2645, carrying huge amounts of drugs. Checking at the site, the competent forces seized 12 blue sacks containing 278 plastic nylon packages containing 294 kgs of synthetic drugs. According to the forces, due to the nighttime and hazards and thick fog in mountainous terrain, a male accompanying with Vangchueyang Briachear fled to the forest.

The successful destruction of the 218-LP case and seizure of these drugs was the result of a long-term task of monitoring by the forces. This crystal meth was transported from Myanmar via Thailand to Vietnam for consumption worth more than VND 60 billion. If successful, the smuggler would financially benefit from 2 to 3 times. This is also the largest amount of crystal meth ever discovered in Ha Tinh province.

Also at this time, the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes under the Ministry of Public Security coordinated with Ha Tinh Provincial Police, Border Guards and Customs, and successfully destroyed the case T1218. They arrested 7 offenders, including Nguyen Thanh Trung, born in 1985, residing in Son Tay commune, Huong Son district; Nguyen Anh Tuan, born in 1991, residing in Nam Dan district (Nghe An) and Nguyen Huu Phuoc, born in 1998, residing in Ky Trinh ward, Ky Anh town; and Dao Viet Son, born in 1992, residing in Kim Thanh hamlet, Son Tay commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province, and seized 10 kgs of crystal meth, 1,800 synthetic drug tablets, 1 gun, 9 bullets, 2 grenades and many related weapons and exhibits.

To persuade offenders to give up, the competent forces mobilized hundreds of officers and soldiers, synchronously took professional measures and ensured the life safety for the forces, offenders and people. Especially, persuading Nguyen Thanh Trung and Nguyen Anh Tuan to release their weapons and surrender themselves to the competent forces after more than 4 hours staying in cars.

Earlier, on January 23, 2019, at Cau Treo international border gate, Son Kim 1 commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province, the working group of the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes (Ministry of Public Security) chaired and coordinated with Ha Tinh Provincial Police, Customs Branch at Cau Treo International border gate and Customs Control Team (Ha Tinh Customs Department), Ha Tinh Border Guard and Nghe An provincial Police, to catch the offender Nguyen Van Anh, 28 years old, residing in Hamlet 12, Nghi Truong Commune, Nghi Loc District, Nghe An Province, carrying 120 cakes of heroin hidden in a car control plate 29A-09629.

At the investigation agency, Nguyen Van Anh confessed that he was hired by Nguyen Kim Trung, 38 years old, residing in Son Kim 1 commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh to drive the car from Vientiane - Laos. In the afternoon of the same day, the forces arrested Nguyen Quoc Trung and two offenders in this line, Nguyen Duy Que, 31 years old, residing in Ben Thuy Ward, Vinh City, Nghe An and Le Thanh Tap, 28 years old, residing in Nghi Truong commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An.

Just two days earlier, on January 21, 2019, at the riverbank area in Dong Son village, Son Bang commune, Huong Son district Police (Ha Tinh), coordinated with the competent forces to catch 2 Laotian offenders: Ka Po Sang, born in 1977, residing in Xay Cham Phon district, Blykhhamxay province and Kham Bay Heng Ma Son, born in 1980, residing in Xay Cham Phon district, Blykhhamxay province, who were illegally trading drugs. The competent forces seized on the spot over 2,000 tablets of synthetic drugs and related exhibits. The offenders declared that they had bought and transported these drugs from Laos to Vietnam for consumption.

The war is heating up day by day

With favorable geographical location, wide area and long border line, Ha Tinh is considered as a favorable area for drug transshipment to everywhere in the country after the "goods" are gathered from the other side of border to be transported into Vietnam. According to Ha Tinh Provincial Steering Committee 389, through combat against many cases over the past time, criminals have continuously changed their time, place of operation, disguised and hidden drugs inside other goods and luggage, causing a lot of difficulties for the competent forces. Besides, foreign–related drug offenders equipped with "hot" weapons are increasing. A number of Vietnamese people living and doing business in Laos have colluded and connected with some Laotian people to form lines of illegal transport of drugs in large amount in more complicated nature, more reckless and sophisticated methods, which makes it harder to combat against drugs.

According to Ha Tinh Provincial Steering Committee 389, in the past, every drug case seized by the forces was small scale with insignificant exhibits, but recently, the cases have larger scale with a great amount of exhibits. In addition to gathering and transporting goods at night or during shift times, the criminals also cope with the competent forces by many escape tricks. The amount of goods is getting larger, the drugs are very diverse, but mostly heroin and synthetic drugs such as crystal meth and methamphetamine. Methods and tricks of criminals are more sophisticated and reckless. They often work in closed chains on the basis of existing relations between people, relatives and members in a family.
