Enterprises evade Customs declaration for conditional imports

Customs officers carry out actual inspections for imported goods.

On August 23, Hai Phong Customs Department said the Customs Control Team and Customs Branch of Hai Phong port, region II (Hai Phong Customs Department) has handed over documents and evidences of the administrative violations of An Phuoc Export-Import Joint Stock Company to Tien Son Customs Branch (Bac Ninh Customs Department) for consideration and settlement of violations according to the law.

At the end of May 2016, An Phuoc Export-Import Joint Stock Company registered import procedures for a consignment with Tien Son Inland Customs Branch, which was imported from Hai Phong port. According to the declaration of this enterprise, the shipment contained 18 kinds of consumer goods such as washing water, washing powder, toothpaste, Nutella chestnut jam, etc.

However, during investigation, the Customs Control Team and Customs Branch of Hai Phong port, region II conducted actual inspections.

According to the results of the inspections, the total imported goods included 25 items such as cosmetics, soap, hand sanitizer, rice cakes, biscuits, jams, new pots and pans, etc.

Of the 25 imported items, there were only 2 items declared on the Customs declaration, but not matching the quantity.

There were 23 items which were not declared by this enterprise. Notably, there were several food items and cosmetics which needed qualification to import, but this enterprise did not declare and did not have full legal documents proving they were the eligible importer.

Thus, the Customs Control Team of Hai Phong Customs Department made records to An Phuoc Export-Import Joint Stock Company for a series of administrative violations, including declaration evasion, false declaration about the quantity of goods and the imports which were not eligible under the provisions of law.
