Drug crimes pose potential risks on all three routes

On May 26, 2024, Nam Giang International Border Gate Customs Branch (Quang Nam Customs Department) coordinated with competent forces to seize nearly 200 kg of drugs transported from Laos to Vietnam.

In addition, imported precursors also pose a potential risk of illegal manufacturing and production of drugs.

Faced with that situation, the Customs sector has implemented synchronous and drastic professional measures and promptly detected and seized many violations.

In May alone, the Customs chaired and coordinated with the Police, Border Guard, and Coast Guard to seize 20 cases and arrest 30 suspects (of which the Customs agency presided over five cases).

Seized goods included 22.7 kg of drugs of all kinds: 34 grams of marijuana; 12.17kg of heroin; 3.32kg ketamine; 6.62kg of synthetic drugs; and 127.07 grams of other drugs.

In the first five months of 2024, the Customs sector presided over and coordinated with the Police, Border Guard, and Coast Guard to seize 134 cases and 159 arrests (including the Customs chaired 49 cases).

Seized evidence was 650.41 kg of drugs all kinds including: 160 grams of opium; 71.53kg of marijuana; 42.7kg of heroin; 48.5kg and 900 tablets of ketamine; 307.3kg and 3 tablets of synthetic drugs; 180.19kg and 220 tablets of other drugs.
