Discover 25 containers of scraps imported to Cat Lai port
Scraps that were camouflaged of old machinery were detected by Saigon Port area 1 Customs Branch |
Mr. Vo The Hung, Head of Import Cargo Customs Procedures Team - Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch said that the unit is holding in custody in order to clarify 25 containers of imported goods to Cat Lai port containing waste.
Regarding to shipment of imported goods includes 25 containers, the recipient is Tri Quang Trading and Service Company Limited (located at 60 Nguyen Van Giap, Binh Trung Dong Ward, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City). In particular, the company has opened import customs declaration for 5 containers, declared the imported goods are machinery of all kinds, imported from Japan to Cat Lai - Ho Chi Minh City.

Through the investigation of the dossier there were suspicious signs, so the Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch area organized the scanning. As a result, the image showed that the goods contained in the container was waste.
By opening all 5 containers (already opened customs declarations), Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch detected all cargoes in the 5 containers were electronic waste, plastic scrap… containing many impurities.

In order to hide the waste, outside of the container was blocked by pallets and some old machinery, such as: hot coolers; electric motors…
At present, the Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch is requesting to appraise the above waste. At the same time, continue to inspect 20 containers of Tri Quang Co., Ltd., which have not opened the customs declaration yet.
