Customs sector earns VND184 trillion in the first half of 2023

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC), the whole Customs sector earns VND29,459 billion in June. In the first six months of the year, the Customs revenue sees a year-on-year decrease of 19% to VND 183,744 billion, meeting 43.23% of the estimate.
The Customs revenue drops due to the gloomy import and export activities over the past months. The total import and export turnover in June is estimated to increase by 3.6% to US$56.01 billion compared with the previous month. Of which, the export turnover is estimated at US$ 29.3 billion, up 4.5%, and import turnover at US$ 26.71 billion, up 2.6%.
However, the total trade in goods in the first half of the year is estimated at US$ 316.64 billion, down 15.1% year-on-year.
The total export is estimated to drop 12.1% to US$164.45 billion, and the import turnover falls 18.2% to US$ 152.19 billion compared with the same period in the previous year.
Vietnam's merchandise trade balance in June is estimated to have a surplus of US$2.59 billion. In the first 6 months, the whole country is estimated to have a surplus of US$12.26 billion.
