Customs sector collects about VND187 trillion in first five months of 2022

Between January and May, the sector’s revenue saw a year-on-year increase of 16.8% to VND186,649 billion, meeting 53% of the estimate and 50.4% of the target.
The total trade in goods in May decreased by 4.7% to VND62.69 billion compared with the previous month.
The export turnover fell 8.5% to US$30.48 billion and the import turnover declined by 0.8% to VND32.21 billion compared with the month ago.
In the first five months of the year, the total import and export turnover rose 15.6% or VND41.14 billion to VND305.1 billion compared with the same period in 2021.
The export turnover increased by 16.3% to VND152.81 billion and import turnover grew by 14.9% to VND52.29 billion.
In May the country had a trade deficit of US$1.73 billion but, by the end of May, the country saw a trade surplus of US$516 million.
