In the morning of 7/10, through a discussion with Customs News reporter, the leader of Customs Enforcement Unit (Hai Phong Customs Department) said that the case was detected by the unit in coordination with the Command of Coast Guard 1 and was being investigated and clarified.

Earlier, at 9:30PM on 5/10, on the bordering sea area between Quang Ninh and Hai Phong, the customs enforcement unit (Hai Phong Customs Department) coordinated with the working Group of the Legal Department (the Command of Coast Guard 1) and conducted a physical inspection of the tanker with the number HP-1852 which had suspicious signs.

Through the inspection, the above ship was found to belong to Minh Chau Trading and Service Co, Ltd., (address at Lac Vien ward, Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong province). At the time of inspection, there were 4 crew members on board and Vu Viet Van as captain (native of Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province). The ship was carrying 58,000 liters of DO and 50,000 kilograms of FO oil.

According to the competent forces, at the inspection time, the HP - 1852 ship was operating in the incorrect area as specified in the license.

The crew on board presented to the customs forces and the Coast Guard three sets of vouchers in order to prove the legality of the oil transported on board, but the competent forces discovered many conflict points.

The Customs and Coast Guard forces made a record of the violation and brought the means of transport as well as oil to the anchorage area for further investigation and clarification.

Regarding to the violation of trading and transportation of petroleum in the Northeastern Sea, on 10/9, the North Customs Marine Enforcement Fleet (Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department, General Department of Vietnam Customs) detected and arrested a tanker while it was carrying about 50,000 liters of A92 gasoline without documents for proving legal origin.
