Cao Bang seizes more than two tons of tobacco materials

The interdisciplinary control team 389 of Cao Bang province detected a car with license plate No. 88A-167.73 on the way from Ngoc Con commune, Trung Khanh District to Cao Bang city with suspicious signs of transporting non-originating goods on May 3.

The team took specialized measures and inspected the car at group 10, Ngoc Xuan ward, Cao Bang city.

The owner of the car was Nong The Dat, 36, residing in Hoa Chung ward, Cao Bang city.

At the scene, the team detected 597kg of tobacco materials in the car, but Dat did not present documents or invoices showing the origin of the goods.

Dat claimed that he bought these goods from unknown residents in Ngoc Con commune, Trung Khanh district to sell in Cao Bang city.

The interdisciplinary control team 389 of Cao Bang province made a report and issued a decision to temporarily seize all of the above infringing goods and handle the case in accordance with law.

Earlier, the interdisciplinary control team 389 of Cao Bang province coordinated with Customs Enforcement Team (under Cao Bang Customs Department) and Ngoc Con Border Guard Station to inspect a truck with license plate No. 11C-020.23 on April 23.

The truck was driven by Nguyen Dinh Phuong, 39, residing in Co Lung commune, Phu Luong district, Thai Nguyen province, travelling towards Po Peo border gate, Trung Khanh district to Cao Bang city.

The competent forces detected 1,820kg of tobacco materials in the truck, worth about VND49 million.

Phuong did not show invoices or documents for the goods and said that he bought them from residents in Ngoc Con commune, Trung Khanh district to sell them in Cao Bang city.

Thus, the competent forces in Cao Bang province seized more than 2.4 tons of tobacco materials without invoices and documents in a short time.
