The ivory was seized at Cat Lai port on November 11, 2016.

The Customs Branch of Sai Gon port, Zone 1, C74 under the Ministry of Public Security and the Coast Guard also coordinated to conduct physical inspections.

The above shipment came to Cat Lai port on October 31, 2016 and the Manifest showed that it included wooden products imported from Nigeria to Vietnam with the port of destination Binh Duong. The consignee is T.P Production Trading Services Company Limited (in Chau Thanh, Binh Phuoc).

The ivory was hidden in hollow wooden blocks covered with sawdust. Through the first examination, functional officers detected 12 wooden blocks containing ivory.

Currently, Customs officers are coordinating with relevant forces to check the shipment.

Earlier, in October, Customs officers found three cases of smuggled ivory and pangolin scales at Cat Lai port of more than 3.5 tons.

Accordingly, in October and early November, Customs discovered 4 cases of smuggled ivory on the sea with huge volume, worth hundreds of billions of vnd.
