According to Khanh Binh Border Gate Customs Branch, at about 8:40 a.m. on August 1, 2024, at Khanh Binh Border Gate Complex Control Station, Khanh Binh Customs Branch presided over and coordinated with Long Binh Border Guard Station and An Phu district police identified a 40 year-old man carrying a black plastic bag walking into the cargo lane but passengers lane from Vietnam to Cambodia.

Realizing signs of suspicion, the control force invited this man into the luggage checking area of ​​the Khanh Binh Border Gate Complex Control Station to perform screening procedures. Through scanned images, the authorities discovered many round metal objects inside the man’s black bag.

From the suspicious image, Khanh Binh Border Gate Customs Branch invited the man to the branch headquarter for a key inspection. As a result, the plastic bag contained 371 yellow metal bracelets weighing more than 1.2 kg. Examination results showed that this metal was gold worth over VND1.4 billion.

Confessing to the Customs, the man said his name was Tang Hour, born in 1982, living in Phnom Penh city, Kingdom of Cambodia.

Tang Hour said that he received the amount of gold from a man in Vietnam to transport to Cambodia for Kong Ji, with a fee of US$10.

The authorities made a record to arrest Mr. Tang Hour red-handed; and temporarily confiscated related evidence.

Khanh Binh Border Gate Customs Branch has handed over the arrest, documents and exhibits to PC03 of An Giang Provincial Police to continue investigation.
