About 100 tons of cashew nuts without declaration seized

The shipment of cashew nuts is seized by Tay Ninh Customs.

On August 4, during the inspection of imports and exports at Chang Riec Border Gate, Xa Mat Border Gate Customs Branch coordinated with Chang Riec Border Guard Station and detected a shipment of Le Gia Phat Investment and Trade Co., Ltd (Tan Binh District, HCM City) with suspicious signs, and conducted a physical inspection.

Specifically, the company declared to import a consignment of 100 tons of unshelled raw cashew nuts from Cambodia to Vietnam. However, through the physical inspection, the shipment contains 83,560 kg of unshelled raw cashew nuts, worth over VND2.3 billion, and 15,300 kg of shelled cashew nuts, worth over VND1.4 billion.

The Customs detected that the company committed a violation in declaring the quantity of imported goods subject to tax and importing goods inconsistent with the actual declaration on the goods' name without additional declaration.

Xa Mat Border Gate Customs Branch made a record of administrative violations and seized the shipment for further investigation.
