2 tons of firecrackers were seized on Van Gia island - Quang Ninh

On August 1 at 10 pm, while patrolling the area of Vinh Thuc island, Mong Cai, Quang Ninh (sea-border with China), Van Gia Customs Branch coordinated with the Customs Control Team No. 2 (Quang Ninh Customs Department) to discover and arrest 1 wooden boat owned by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ram (born in 1949, address zone 9, Diem Dien, Thai Binh) carrying a large amount of various firecrackers from China into Vietnam. There were no supporting import documents.
At the time of inspection, Mr. Dang Van Cuong (born in 1964) and Mr. Tran Van Chien (born in 1967) from Tien Hai, Thai Binh were onboard the boat.
Following the inspection, the cargo boat and and the perpetrators were transferred to Van Gia Customs Branch.
Then, Van Gia Customs Branch and Customs Control Teams No. 2 and Van Gia Frontier Station force physically checked the goods on board and found 36 pineapple cartons and 32 other cartons containing a total of 2 tons of fireworks made in China.
Speaking to a reporter of Customs Newspaper, the leader of Van Gia Customs Branch said that the case was verified and processed. The perpetrators and the vessel were transferred to Mong Cai city police agency for further inspection.
This shipment of 2 tons of fireworks is the largest attempted import of fireworks ever in this province.

As Customs Newspaper reported earlier, Van Gia Customs Branch seized 52 kg of fireworks in September 2015 (unidentified owner).
