Warning on incorrect declaration of HS codes to evade tax of imported steel

To strengthen mangament and timely detecting, handling violation, the General Department of Vietnam Customs requested provincial customs departments select consignments showing signs of risks to choose a key shipment and declaration for changing channel of physical inspection.

Directing customs branches to consult with the cargo shipment type 2 but the information on dossiers and documents enclosed with the customs dossier do not show goods type 2.

Based on the warning content as mentioned above, the General Department requested local customs departments perform task in their management areas to effectively detect, fight, prevent and take responsibility with the leaders of the General Department if they failed to fulfill their responsibilities and let the situation of smuggling and fraud related to the above acts occur in their assigned management area.

For the Import and Export Duty Department, the General Department of Vietnam Customs urgently supplemented these groups of goods to the list of risky goods in terms of classification and apply the tax rate as a basis for the inspection and classification of tax rate for the steel products.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department is responsible for reviewing key enterprises importing these goods and working with the Risk Management Department, the customs branches where customs procedures are carried out to change channels, conducting physical inspection of goods to detect, promptly handle and prevent loss of State revenue.
