Quang Binh Customs coordinated to arrest the transport of nearly 30,000 drug pills (January 22, 2024).

According to the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department (General Department of Customs), air routes continue to increase in both the number of cases and the number of exhibits of violations, mainly concentrated through international airports: Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, with supplies from European and American countries.

In addition, land and sea routes also pose many potential risks.

Faced with the above situation, the Customs sector continues to proactively and drastically implement plans and strategies to fight and achieve positive results on the drug prevention and combat front.

In January (period from December 16, 2023 to January 15, 2024), the Customs sector presided and coordinated with functional forces (Police, Border Guard) to detect and arrest 38 cases, 49 subjects (of which the Customs agency presided over 7 cases), evidence collected over 55.4 kg of various drugs.

Previously, the year 2023 recorded an outstanding mark of the Customs sector on the front of fighting drug crimes. Last year, the entire Customs sector presided over and coordinated with the Police and Border Guard forces to detect and arrest 263 cases, 303 subjects (Customs authorities presided over 121 cases), and collected evidence of more than 2.8 tons of drugs of all kinds, considered the largest amount of drugs ever seized by the Customs sector.

Typically: In September, the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department and Hai Phong Customs Department coordinated with competent forces to destroy a transnational drug crime ring, seizing 1.3 tons of ketamine drugs "camouflage in a cement shell" (in Hai Phong and Ha Tinh).

Hanoi Customs Department participated in 45 arrests, confiscating about 825 kg of drugs of all kinds, about 3 times more than in 2022, etc.

Through the struggle, the Customs force has clarified many very sophisticated methods and tricks of transporting drugs such as: hiding in goods, luggage, vehicles, etc (such as candy, milk, dog food cats, electronics, "disguised" in cement bags, in converted car trunks, etc); Use social networks to transact, buy and sell, when delivering goods, regularly use transportation services of carriers, rent technology vehicles to monitor the moving process and be ready to abandon goods when detecting any abnormal problems.
