Timely prevent smuggled goods in presents and gift

According to the report of the leader of the Express Customs Branch at the Conference on deploying the tasks of 2019 on 29/1/2019, in 2018, the unit implemented many plans and solutions to combat smuggling and trade fraud in the type of express delivery commercial goods via air.

The unit detected and seized 22 cases of drugs concealed in gifts and presents sent to individuals by post. The number of narcotics seized was nearly 16 kg, an increase of 9 cases compared to 2017.

The Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department recorded the results of the Express Customs Branch in timely detecting and preventing drug concealment in gifts and presents.

"In fact, drugs sent by express mail are not subject to specific declaration, when the subjects were discovered, they were not detected. So that they have taken advantage to transport drugs" - Deputy Director Tran Ma Thong emphasized.

Besides drugs, some valuable goods and conditional imported goods also are taken advantage by the subjects in order to transport to Vietnam via express delivery.

Through the statistics in 2018, the Express Customs Branch implemented the custom procedure for more than 1.8 million declarations of import non-commercial (gifts and presents), with the value of goods over 3,830 billion VND.
