Special case EM620: suspect arrested in Thanh Hoa

The special case EM620 led by Ha Noi Customs Department in June 2020 and joinedby competent forces, including: Unit 5 under the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department (the General Department of Vietnam Customs), Division 7-C04 of the Ministry of Public Security, Division PC04 of Ha Noi Police, Divisions PC04 of Thai Nguyen and Nghe An Police, Anti-Drug Enforcement Teams of Nghe An, Thanh Hoa Customs Departments, and two customs branches, including Noi Bai and Express Cargo Customs Branches.

In early July, in Nam Ngan Ward, Thanh Hoa City, the Anti-Drug Enforcement Team of Ha Noi Customs Department has coordinated with the Anti-Drug Enforcement Team (Thanh Hoa Customs Department), PC04 (Ha Noi Police) and PC04 (Thanh Hoa Police) to arrest Nguyen Hoang Anh, born in 1996, residing in Nam Ngan Ward, Thanh Hoa city who is engaged in trafficking and illegal transportation of drugs.

Competent forces seized 19 plastic boxes containing synthetic drugs and ketamine tablets with a total weight of 2,778.79 grams.

According to initial testimony of the suspect, the drugs were hidden inside boxes of supplemental foods and pharmaceuticals in a parcel sent from Germany to Vietnam via air.

Currently, the suspect and evidence of the case have been transferred to competent forces to investigate and handle according to the law.

Previously, Ha Noi Customs Department has informed about the special case EM620 led by the department in June. This special case is implemented by special measures and coordination between the Customs and Police forces to discover a shipment sent from Germany to five provinces and cities: Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Binh Duong and Ha Tinh.

During the investigation, competent forces arrested six suspects in the drug transportation line.

Up to 18,697.55 grams of synthetic drugs (MDMA) and 393.34 grams of ketamine and 931.08 grams suspected of being drugs were seized.
