Seize nearly 200 kg of drugs transported from Laos to Vietnam

Competent forces seized nearly 200kg of drugs of all kinds

According to information from Nam Giang International Border Gate Customs Branch (Quang Nam Customs Department), at 11:36 AM, on May 26, at the Nam Giang International Border Gate Control Station, while handling entry procedures for passengers, vehicle drivers and temporary import procedures for 15-seat passenger cars branded Toyota which had Laos license plates, competent force detected suspected signs. In the car, except the driver of Lao nationality, there were also seven people of Lao nationality (2 men and 5 women).

Nam Giang Border Gate Customs Branch, Central Anti-Smuggling Enforcement Unit (Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department - General Department of Vietnam Customs) and Nam Giang International Border Gate Border Guard Station cooperated to inspect the vehicle as mentioned above and discovered that many packages of suspected drugs were hidden on the ceiling of the car.

All subjects, vehicles and exhibits were taken to the headquarters of Nam Giang International Border Gate Border Guard Station for search. As a result, the competent force discovered 180 packages of suspected synthetic drugs (weighing about 180 kg), 44 bricks of suspected Heroin (weighing about 16.25 kg), and 4 packs of tablets (weighing about 1.75 kg). The total weight was 198 kg.

Through discussion, the Border Guard Command of Quang Nam province said that the above incident was part of a special project of the Drug and Crime Prevention Department - the Border Guard Command, and it continued to fight.

Competent force searched the vehicles

Leaders of Quang Nam Customs Department have directed Nam Giang International Border Gate Customs Branch to continue coordinating with competent forces to investigate and clarify when required.
