Searching 25 containers of fraudulent export wood at Cat Lai port

On December 10, under the direction of Dinh Ngoc Thang - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch coordinated with Customs Enforcement Team – HCM City Customs Department and Police Division on Criminal investigation of corruption, economy and smuggling (PC03) - Ho Chi Minh City Police to inspect 25 containers of an export shipment.
The Control and Supervision Team - Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch detected a shipment of 25 exported containers (under 14 declarations) of Saigon Asia Trading Co., Ltd with signs of inccorect declaration and tax fraud.
To prevent and seize the above shipment, on November 22, 2019, the leader of the Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch issued a notification of temporary suspension of clearance through the supervision and implementing key supervision for this shipment.

The above shipment was opened for declaration by Saigon Asia Trading Co., Ltd and implemented customs procedures at Chon Thanh Customs Branch – Binh Phuoc Customs Department. According to the declaration of enterprises, this export shipment was “veneer produced from rubber wood” with export duty of 10 percent. This shipment was classified to yellow channel (checking dossiers and shipment is cleared).
The physical inspection result showed that goods containing in the containers were swan timer. This item has an export duty rate of 25 percent.
